Going through my playlist, I started listening to a powerful song by Travis Greene titled, ‘Be still’, and I carefully listened to the lyrics. My inspiration to write this small piece came from these lyrics specific lyrics :
‘Everybody is moving
Everyone is going somewhere
With everything they’re trying
Just to make it
To a place where I am not there'
It hit me, how we are so worried about a number of things in our lives especially when we look at the person next to us and their life is moving and ours seem to be stuck. Stuck in a place where we don’t seem to know how to get out of. Trying hard each day to be successful but keep hitting walls along the way. Everybody is moving, everyone seem to be going somewhere and that somewhere you are not there.
It is worrying especially for us young adults out here. We can’t help but look at our age mates and think oh snap, I’m legging behind, I’m getting old, and I have archived nothing. Whilst others are thriving, I’m struggling. I mean at some point even myself have thought about it in that way, it happens to all of us, we are human after all. We have our ups and downs, highs and lows and sometimes the situations surrounding us wouldn’t make it any better.
You would ask yourself questions like, my friends are getting married and I have been single as long as I could remember. My friends are working and I have been applying for jobs but nothing, why? You would torment yourself, questioning your life and the choices you would have made before, even getting to a point where you lose hope and confidence in yourself. I just want to encourage you to just stop torturing yourself for a moment and be still...
Be still and know everyone’s timing is different
Be still and know your time is coming
Be still and know you are running your own race
Be still and know our purpose and assignments are not the same and nowhere near being the same
Be still and know our destinies are different
Be still and know God is in control
Be still and know that HE is God (Psalm 46; 10)
